Yamamizu Ryu Past or Present Affiliations

National and International Organizations we are or have been members of.

  • Bujinkan International

  • Rev.Bergstrom holds a 10th Dan - Shihan grade in Bujinkan Budotaijutsu, awarded by Hatsumi Soke in October of 2008
    Shidoshi License in Bujinkan Budotaijutsu.

  • Former member of Zen Kokusei Soke Budo/Bugei Renmei

  • YamaMizu Ryu Bujutsu Kai was a sponsored ryuha of the ZKSBBR (no longer)

Sensei Bergstrom was awarded 10th Dan recognition status in 2003 in the divisions of :
    Yamamizu Ryu Karatejutsu
Yamamizu Ryu Dai Kyoku Taijutsu (Tai Chi)
    Yamamizu Ryu Kijutsu/Kiko
    (Qigong and Healing Methods)
    Yamamizu Ryu Kobujutsu (Weapons)
    Yamamizu Ryu Kempojutsu
    Yamamizu Ryu Ninpo/Ninjutsu/Jujutsu

These divisions originally separated Yamamizu Ryu into different schools which are now currently combined to make up the entire Yamamizu Ryu System.

Note: YamaMizu Renmei Bujutsu Kai has stood by the philosophy that a "Soke Shodai" (first generation founder) of any martial arts system is a respected title but only truly means something after the initial Soke passes and the ryuha continues to be taught and developed by a Soke Nidai. It is the dedication and loyalties of the followers of the ryuha that bring validity to the title of Soke Shodai. Rev. Bergstrom is recognized originally by this organization as a 10th Dan Soke in Yamamizu Ryu but we are no longer affiliated with ZKSBBR or any other groups affiliated with this organization or its originators.
